A lot of things will be occurring including more parking lot paving, 18 organ speakers put in place, hardwood flooring installed and carpeting of the sanctuary. Sprinklers and landscaping will also continue to be installed throughout the plaza and parking areas. Towards the end of this short work week, the General Contractor will also begin to demobilize and move out the construction trailer and storage units.

Over the rest of the summer, seating and furniture will arrive, A/V equipment will be installed, the piano and organ will be put gingerly in place and punch list items addressed. In August, the final sealant will be applied to the parking lot and line re-striping will happen again. Finally, the "field of dreams" will be re-graded; half will be left as a temporary parking lot and the other half re-seeded with grass.

We are ending this project on budget at $11,586,897.

The last push is on to complete the new Worship Center. This week work continues on pouring the concrete pads in the Plaza area, building the canopy to the north entrance of our existing sanctuary, painting the trim on the existing buildings to match our new building and excavating, forming and pouring new curbs around the parking lot. Also, drywall work continues in the sanctuary, ceiling installation in the lobby and more carpeting laid on the main floor.

Also, a big thank you for the crew luncheon last Friday! The word from our General Contractor is that Village has "set a new bar for hospitality."

Today, the last three of 44 tilt-up walls were installed closing off the temporary opening and completing the fourth alcove area.

This week cabinetry is being installed in the childcare area and more walls, ductwork and drywall go up in the new sanctuary. Installation of fire sprinklers will also be completed in the existing sanctuary, fireside room and kitchen area. Finally, canopy work continues in the plaza area.

songs of praise are played on the new organ and piano,

videos, songs and scripture are viewed on multiple screens for all cultures to see,

logs are aglow in the fireplace encouraging us to slow down and connect with others,

espressos line the counter at the new Coffee Bar,

kids track the water flow around a fountain and over a water fall in the Plaza area, while adults catch up on the latest news,

elevators run between all floors in the new and existing buildings,

larger classrooms open up on the Lower Level and Main Floor,

newborns are sleeping and toddlers are playing in their new rooms on the Lower Level,

the new Worship Center is complete, and

the first service and Grand Opening celebrations take place September 11-13, 2009.
